WHO IS THIS GUY
My name is Drew and I create harmless mayhem.
Theatre is the art of movement in time and space and both are made more valuable by sharing them with others. Therefore, the greatest strength of theatrical performance is being in a room with other people.
I have been performing onstage in some capacity since I was 7 years old, starting with dance and moving through musicals, straight plays, original sketch comedy, devised physical theatre, and clowning. Throughout that time I have learned this:
The stage is not a serious place. The stage is a place to play, to be weird, to just get silly.
I prefer theatrical work that has no “fourth wall,” by which I mean, “has no hard barrier between the performers and the audience.” I like to see the audience and I like the audience to know that I can see them. I like a performance that feels like a collaborative experience rather than a presentation. The audience is an essential part of the theatre and I want to make sure they are included.
Playing pretend is no fun by yourself. I prefer to play with friends.
